Who We Are

FIND OUT ABOUT OUR CHURCH FAMILY

At Westside Family Fellowship we seek to follow God in our daily lives and in our church services. We believe in the gifts of the Spirit and place a high priority on worship. While we are open to any current move of God, we will, ‘test all things and hold fast to that which is true’ (1 Thessalonians 5:19-21).

Perhaps one of the most defining scriptures in the past fifty years relating to the body of Christ is Luke 5:37-39: “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins, and it will be spilled out, and the skins will be ruined. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. And no one, after drinking old wine wishes for new; for he says, “The old is good enough.”

Here, Jesus makes an important statement about the tendency of man to always prefer the past, the predictable, and the comfortable. At Westside Family Fellowship we honor what God has done in previous generations that has brought us to our present place. But we will never say, “The old is good enough.” We will always seek to follow God in this present hour. In that sense we are always on a journey. If you share that same desire and want to journey with us, then come join us.

We are dedicated to sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ by releasing believers to impact our community and our world according to the gifts God has given them.

BRIEF FROM HISTORY

In September, 1982, the first church services commenced in the Westside building at 3791 Hwy 16W in Prince George.  Bruce and Gwen Stratton gave leadership in the pioneering of this new congregation. They had come from Peterborough, Ontario, after Bruce graduated from Eastern Pentecostal Bible College. Bruce initially came to serve in a pastoral internship under Pastor Arlo Johnson at Prince George Pentecostal Tabernacle.

After the internship was completed, Bruce and Gwen oversaw the new work at Westside. Also in September of 1982, in the same building, the academy began with approximately 50 students, under the tutelage of Dale and Alberta Cummins.
