Sri Lanka Mourns – Kandangama Report

Dear Family & Friends, We find ourselves in another tragic situation here in Sri Lanka. Like most Christians, we went to church Easter Sunday morning to celebrate our Risen Saviour. Midway through service people began to receive messages of bomb blasts that had taken place. It quickly changed the atmosphere and uncertainty set in. Soon after arriving home a curfew nationwide was established and another was just enforced this evening till morning for the second day in a row. Update #16 – Sri Lanka 2019

Final Post sent at 2:20 a.m. March 27, 2019: Well the time has come and gone.  We have zig zagged across the nation of Sri Lanka and everywhere we visited places that Pastor Arlo and I and other team members have been before.  We have seen incredible growth in the work that Westside has partnered with here in Sri Lanka.  The end of an era that began with the building of a room in Kandy and ended up touching hundreds of Pastors and churches.  Everywhere people thanked Pastor Arlo and Westside Family Fellowship for their love and support and so until heaven we will not know...



Update #15: Sri Lanka 2019

This report arrived at 3:38 a.m. March 25, 2019: In the past we at Westside Family Fellowship purchased a number of sewing machines for a sewing class offered at Badulla Lighthouse church.  The instructor is a qualified teacher and so they can offer a certification that will help the students get sewing jobs. After the program is finished Westside is going to give the top student a sewing machine so that she can work from home and make an income to help support her family.  This program has been approved by the regional government and one of their officials was in attendance. Update #14: Sri Lanka 2019

Update from Pastor Marlo sent 11:21 p.m. March 23, 2019: We were greeted with a traditional Sri Lankan dance at church today.  Then they gave each of us flowers and before a wonderful church service at the Badulla Lighthouse.  The church is full and the pastor and congregation send their thanks for all the help Westside has given to them throughout the years.  We were able to pray for many people in the congregation and then Derek, Dave and Sunni headed off to take part in another church service in Badulla. Update #13: Sri Lanka Mission 2019

Update # 13 sent 6:00pm Friday March 22nd: We have had a great time here in Sri Lanka!  Dave, Sunni and Derek have prayed for many pastors and have shared in fellowship with a number of families and leaders.  Friday March 21st Sunni had an opportunity to share with a group of ladies at the Badulla Lighthouse Church and they spent a couple of hours together and concluded with a time of prayer.  Shanthi (pastor Roshan’s wife) told me later that it was a real good time where the ladies were encouraged and blessed. Report # 3: Westside Academy Grade 12 Students

Message sent at 6:47 p.m. March 21, 2019 Hello, a quick update … We have been busy painting the centre and we are exhausted ! The humidity has been off the charts, even the locals are saying it is hot!! For the last few days we have been without power for at least 5 hours a day.  Today we had no power and no water for 5 hours.  The team is doing very well and enjoying the food and new culture.
