Missions 2018 – Africa
Throughout 2018 Westside Family Fellowship overseas missions will focus on building water catchments in the nation of Kenya.
Our main project is fundraising about $8,000 to build water catchments in northern Kenya for the Maasai people. Three water catchments have already been completed with more to come online soon.
Severe drought conditions are affecting Somalia, South-East Ethiopia and North-East Kenya.
These water catchments are a vital method of overcoming the ongoing drought throughout the “Horn of Africa”. Severe drought conditions are affecting Somalia, South-East Ethiopia and North-East Kenya. Our outreach through Kenyan Pastor Paul Ndungu will touch the lives of many thousands of people in the region.
Each of these catchments can hold 100,000 litres of water.
The water catchments we’ve already built are full of water as Kenya is in it’s rainy season right now. Westside, with God’s blessing has been instrumental in building 5 of these water catchments. We started with 2 built in 1994 and 3 built in 2017. Each of these catchments can hold 100,000 litres of water. This will provide water for up to 60 families year round. Without these catchments these people would have to travel very far on foot to get their water or possibly do without. All of the catchments we’ve had a hand in building will supply about 500,000 litres of water to bless about 2,500 people. PRAISE THE LORD for his blessings!
We will be using many methods to raise funds to support building these water catchments including our regular Garage Sales. If you wish to donate directly to this cause simply mark your donation envelopes with the words “Kenya Water” and watch the thermometer in the church foyer as it climbs towards our goal!
