New Season, New Life, New Pathways – The Garratt’s

We received wise counsel early on not to make any major decisions for at least 18 months.  We followed that wisdom focusing on sharing and documenting the story, meeting with friends and family and readjusting to Canada. During these months, God has shown Himself ever-present (Psalm 46:1) and always at work (John 5:17), providing for our needs and healing our hearts, while allowing us to hear amazing stories of answered prayer.

Dear friends in Mississauga have blessed us incredibly by letting us use their basement suite as a launching pad and resting spot during this season.  And of course, many others have walked with us in multiple ways.  Now at the 18 month mark, we have landed in British Columbia, ready for what God has next. This is the beginning of a new faith journey.

Like Abraham we came not knowing where we would settle but God just said “Go”.  We had some ideas, but felt God had a place waiting for us and we needed to trust him. We answered some “For Rent” ads and made an appointment to view one.  Then, one night, in prayer, we sensed God saying, “That apartment building needs a pastor.”  God’s ways are so specific and often different from ours.  The next day the agent called to say the apartment was ours.  The landlord had chosen us over many others!  Now we have a mission field on our doorstep with 130 units filled with people who need to hear the gospel.

What’s Next?

Recently, two new opportunities have excited our hearts. Neither of them are in Canada so we will make some exploratory trips to pray on site as well as consult with and give advice to those already working in the locations.  Each are on a different continent but both involve providing care, community, and a witness in circumstances similar to our previous work. We really do need your continued prayers as we go out and “spy out the lands”.

The Book

We are working on a book about our life experiences and have chosen to self-publish with Westbow Press, a division of Thomas Nelson and Zondervan.  Self publishing means we pay the entire cost of the book including all editing, cover design etc. – while keeping all rights to our story which is, of course, important to us.
