WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe all Scripture, both Old and New Testaments, form one Covenant and was given by inspiration of God as the writers were moved by the Holy Spirit, and that these Scriptures are the only rule of faith and practice (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21)

We believe in one true God, who is eternal, self-existent, the “I AM,” who has revealed Himself as existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; distinguishable but indivisible. (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; Luke 3:21-22; 2 Cor. 13:14)

We believe that man was originally created by God in His image to have dominion over the earth until sin entered by man’s disobedience. Mankind was left totally incapable of saving himself. (Gen. 1:26-27; Gen. 3:1-7; Rom. 5:12-21)

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, perfect God and perfect Man. (Luke 1: 26-35; John 1:1, 14, 18; Isa. 7:14; Isa. 9:6)

We believe that Christ our Saviour died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the scriptures and appeared to His disciples giving proof of His resurrection. (1 Cor. 15:1-8; Rom. 4:25)

We believe in the bodily ascension of Jesus Christ to heaven, His exaltation as Lord to the right hand of the Father, and His literal physical return the second time to earth to receive His glorious Church. (Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; Zech. 14:4)

We believe in the salvation of sinners by the grace of God through repentance and faith in the perfect and sufficient work of Jesus Christ upon the cross, by which we obtain the remission of sins through His shed blood. The receiving of salvation is also known as the new birth and is an instantaneous work of the Holy Spirit upon the receiving of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Eph. 2:8-10; Heb. 9:12-14; Rom. 5:11; John 3:1-6; 1 Pet. 1:23; Titus 2:11-14; Rom. 10:8-13)

We believe that water baptism by immersion is the obedient response of a believer to the command of the Lord. (Matt. 28:19; Acts 2:38; Acts 10:47-48) It is a release from the past and a launching forward to our destiny in Christ.

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the promise of the Father from the empowering and maturing of the Christian, with His accompanying gifts and fruits which are evidenced in the life of the believer. (Acts 2:1-4; 8:14-17; 10:44-46; Gal. 3:13-14; Gal. 5:22,23; 1 Cor. 12:4-11, 28; Eph. 4:7-16)

We believe that the Church is the Body of Christ, the expression of the present rule and reign of the Kingdom of God on earth and that Christ gave to the Church apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers for the preparation of believers for the work of service. (Eph. 4:11-13) This results in a holy and glorious church that will climax in a global harvest that will characterize the end of the age. (Acts 1:7- 8; 3:19-21; Matt. 13:39)

We believe that the church is in a process of restoration (reformation). God has called us both individually and corporately to repent, be converted, and receive refreshing from the presence of the Lord for the purpose of restoration (reformation). (Acts 3:19-21; Heb. 6:1-3)

We believe in the deliverance of the sick through divine healing provided by the atonement of Christ. (Isaiah 53:4-5 NIV; Matt. 8:16-17; James 5:13-16; Mark 16:15-18)

We believe in the practice of Holy Communion, the breaking of bread and the drinking of the cup in remembrance of the broken body and shed blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Luke 22:14-20; 1 Cor. 11:20-34)

We believe in the everlasting conscious bliss of all who truly believe in our Lord Jesus Christ, and that everlasting conscious punishment is the portion of all whose names are not written in the Book of Life. (Dan 12:2-3; Matt. 25:46; 2 Thess. 1:7-10; Rev. 20:10-15)

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen 1:26-27)

We believe that the term marriage has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen 2:18-25) We believe that any form of sexual immorality is sinful and offensive to God. (Matt 15:18-20; 1 Cor 6:9-10)

We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31) Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of Westside Family Fellowship.

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, persons with disabilities, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Ps. 139)
